Realize your work of art through Mosaico di Vetro
Do you see a piece of art in the collection that you would like in another color or substrate (birdbath, bench, table, wall hanging, or stepping stone)? Why not commission a personalized piece of art specific to your artistic tastes and sensitivities?
Mosaico di Vetro mosaics are one of a kind works of art created in Fremont, California, by Kathleen McCabe-Martin. She has been trained in ancient Roman mosaic and modern art techniques.
Materials used in Mosaico di Vetro mosaics come from many worlds: garage sale treasures, thrift stores and flea markets, keepsakes, etched and formed glass, stained glass, Italian smalti, gold and silver smalti, milleflori, tempered glass, diachronic glass, stone, granite, marble, rocks, tiles, metal, porcelain plates, and jewels. The substrates used as the base of the pieces is the best quality money can buy: wood, wediboard, hardibacker, and concrete.
All art has been created with the idea of keeping the mosaic art beautiful and lasting for many years. All outdoor mosaic art is made with concrete thin set and grout that is sealed twice with penetrating sealants.

Madonna and Jesus
A few months ago, I saw the wonderful mosaic pieces that Kathleen had created at a local art show. I gave Kathleen a picture of the Mother Mary and Baby Jesus and asked her if I could commission her to create the same design, but in mosaics. She got right to work with such enthusiasm and initiative that I became very excited about the project. Kathleen constantly worked with me to ask my opinion on everything from the materials to the size of the finished piece. I was kept up to date on every step of the project and really appreciated being involved. Seeing her previous work, I knew I could have full trust in her artistic abilities. Kathleen has a true talent for design, color and detail work and is a true artist. I truly love the mosaic and I will remember her every time I pray. Thank God for her magnificent work.

Kathleen did an amazing job on my commission! She made a beautiful bench with colorful glass and gorgeous tiles. She was fast, patient, and took all of my request extremely seriously. We selected the glass and tile together and she made sure that the elements matched to perfection. The bench is colorful and demonstrates the artist she is. I'm thoroughly pleased with my commission as it is everything I ever wanted to prominently display on my yard where I can admire it from my window. I highly recommend Kathleen to anyone who wants a unique and personal piece of art.
Again, thank you for my beautiful bench.

The table.... "being in the business of beauty, creativity and originality, the crown jewel of any work I've ever commissioned is the wine table Kathleen created for our wine area. It is a priceless work of art that I find very difficult to contemplate selling!"

"A couple of years ago my husband and I were remodeling our guest bathroom. I had seen Kathleen's creative and spectacular mosaics at her home and loved them. I asked her if she would be willing to make a mosaic for the new bathroom and she said she would. Together we looked at books and talked about what I wanted her to make. We settled on a basic idea, but continued to talk about it and refine it as she worked on it. The final product was a gorgeous wall hanging of irises in a Chinese blue and white pot. It turned out even more beautiful than I imagined and everyone who sees it asks where we got it from. I would recommend Kathleen's work to anyone who likes mosaics as her art is truly unique and always striking."

We are delighted with the design and workmanship of the mosaic table created by Mrs. Martin. It is beautiful, sturdy and colorful. She even delivered the table to us on time. This table decorates our entry way and we get lot of praises for it's appearance.

I am delighted with the beautiful birdbath that adorns my garden! The colors are rich, vibrant, and reflective. It is a lovely piece of art that the birds also love!
The stepping stones catch the sun and add rich color and charm to my garden.
